Understanding Depression and Finding Freedom: Breaking the bonds of isolation and fear

'I would rather have a physical illness - any physical illness - than be depressed.  Depression is the worst experience any person can have.'

Anyone who knows what it is to be depressed would agree.  Depression means feeling despairing, frightened, helpless, guilty, bitter and isolated.  It is the most terrible sense of being trapped in a prison of isolation and fear.

Depression comes when the secure worlds we have created since our birth are challenged so seriously that they crumble beneath our feet.  But we can rescue ourselves by starting on a journey of understanding and self-acceptance, which will finally and for ever help us break free of the bonds of depression.
